I was let down by a zone member (adit) today and speaking to people on other forums, this seems very common on the zone. I did a deal with zone member Adit on a dogleg Gearbox. He wanted £450 for it, and after some negotiation, we agreed on £375. I was meant to be collecting from Banbury tomorrow. I call him this evening and he tells me "oh yea, was just about to call you, i have been offered £450 for the box so i am no longer selling it to you" I mean where are peoples morals gone, what is a mans word worth these days, sod all. This zone member really pissed me off today. When we did the deal, he was bad mouthing a forum member who lives nearby me because he had messed Adit about, talk about being a hypocrite. He can shove his dogleg up where the sun donT shine. I dont own an E30, i own various E21's E12's and 2002's.

What was hilarious, he said he thought it was too cheap "DELIVERED". I had to travel 60 miles to collect and he was going to Banbury anyway to the show. Lame and Shallow. I have had a couple of bad experiences on here now. I am a firm believer in what goes around, comes around.

I sold a 3.91 LSD for £100 quid last year as i didnt know what it was worth. Before the guy that bought it picked it up, i discovered i had messed up...however i stuck to my word and sold it for £100.00. Thats what you call a mans word. Money comes and goes, but its your integrity that remains.

I just always look around at what stuff is worth before I sell, then put a minimum price in mind and except no less than that....

I find its better to arrange to collect the item without mentioning the price, and in your case, have 450 sheets upon your person & negotiate when you get there.

You don't have to mention to the seller how far you have travelled, and could even say you have another to look at a later date. You may have go the box if you had done this, and waved £375 under the fellas nose upon arrival.

But he's agreed on the deal! You don't get nothing if you don't ask, he asked for £375 and that's the deal that was done. You can't then go back on your word - well you can but that's not what being part of a community is about.
Money talks? Bollox, morals and integrity over money. I would rather pay over the odds than deal with someone with no morals or scruples!

Same here. I have recently agreed to buy a couple of items from zoners but pulled out when the Touring I just picked up came along (I have been after one for a while). I emailed the guys straight away and told them the truth about why I had changed my mind. I felt a bit of a t***er doing it though and we're only talking a few bits of paper not 450. I know when I am selling something once I make a deal then the price sticks and it is my own hard luck if I under sell it or get a better offer.
I agree keeping your integrity is far more important than making a few extra pounds.

I can see both sides to this and adit still hasn't put in his side of the story

My take on it - did you pay a deposit to reserve the box at £375 ? if yes then pulling the rug from under you is well out of order.

However with the amount of scammers and messers that are around these days on forums and ebay etc If someone has come along with pound notes totalling the asking price and took the box away I don't blame adit for selling it to the highest bidder - after all is said and done all adit had was a promise from someone on an internet forum that he's never met and doesn't know that they would pay £75 less than he wanted for the item he was selling - if there was no firm commitment in the form of a deposit then until cash changes hands the item is still the sellers to do what he wants with.

Look at it this way - if you were selling a car for £1000 and someone said they would pay you £800 ( which is the figure you had in mind ) but couldn't collect for a few days, and then in the meantime someone actually comes and looks at it and says they will pay the asking price in cash there and then what would you do ?
Wait for the guy who said on the phone they'd give you £800 or take £1000 there and then ?

I have dealt with Adit several times with no issues. He is seen on here as a trusted zoner / trader. Infact, if you check his feedback thread it's 6 pages long and looking fairly healthey to me!

Okay, if what you are saying is true, then it happened. Full stop.

However, FFS let the guy argue his point before you slag someone off so blatenetly in public!

Plus all this hapened "today / Yesterday"? I suggest you talk to Adit off line to resolve giving it a bit f*cking longer to resolve than a few hours.

YES! there are wasters on here. YES there are p!ss takers on here. There are on ALL forums. I have bought / sold on here and not got either what I asked for or some pratt wanting something for f*ck all! What do I do? Vote with my feet and not deal with them again.

What I suggest is that you swat up on your forum ettiquette and give the guy a chance

Meanwhile I'll text Adit now and tell him whats gone on. He'll be along to defend himself no doubt.

sorry falkster, i hadn't realised you were on the phone when mobster and i were discussing this! i am quite surprised at you tbh, jumping on the bandwagon. you know nothing of this whatsoever, right? you're obviously whiter than white

care to hear my side, or would that be a bit much for you?

to summarise, i offered the box. they have been selling on ebay for £500 and more.
i asked £495. then this p-taker offered £295, doing the usual hard-up pleading-poverty story
because i had had a really tiring day and really wasn't in the mood for the extremely hard work that some people put you through to scrape off every last penny possible, i said i would meet halfway at £395 cash (that's a £100 reduction!).
even that wasn't good enough! because this was turning into one of those real P.I.T.A.s, i even relented and said ok, £375, and yes, i even offered to deliver it for free. a courier would be £40-50?

i then hear that he's just bought 4, yes 4 M 5 series, etc and is on other forums all the time, selling stuff at extortionate prices.
good luck to him, but i won't let him take the pi55 out of me, thank-you very much.

yes, i agree, a man's word should be good, as mine always is, and i am the first to negotiate a deal, it's the way of the world, but when i am offered much closer to my original asking price, then think someone is taking the p, i think to myself "don't rip yourself off".

i apologised to the original "buyer", explaining what had happened, and offered him the chance to still have it, but closer to the original amount i asked for (as i said to the second chap that he could have it provisionally).

ok now Falkster/Alex, etc?

p.s. thank you Trevor, Will. the ignorant always like to "slag-off" first, then eat humble pie afterwards.
