just been to get my wheels balanced/tracked up. Blanaced fine, but when we got round to tracking noticed that the end of the rack is bent, which would explain my slight wheel wobble. Question is, does the rack connect straight to the track rod end or is there some other part? This is really hard to explain but inside the rubber boot feels like another connecting bit......
Hope you understand. Ollie

Its so hard to explain. You got the rack, then a boot over it, then the track rod is joined to this. The bent bit is not the track rod, its the bit that joins to this and goes inside the boot. I need to know if this is a seperate part or if it is joined to the rack (Eg new rack)

i think the bit you mean is called a tie rod?? correct me if im wrong peeps?
this connects the track rod end to the rack as you say the tierod joins to the rack directly and as far as i know can be changed/replaced
sorry cnt be more help but hope tht may help a little

Doesn't look very hard to do, but nothing does on my bloody car until you attempt it. Then you realise what a pig to work on they are....

the piece i think your talking about is commonly known as the 'drumstick'.
yes you can replace them.
iirc they're held in with a circlip
