This is starting to get on my nerves! I drive a 316i. Every so often when you are driving along the engine just dies then comes back on. Sometimes it doesnt even come back on and you have to stop and start it. Its not great when you start it in the mornings either. bit jerky when you drive off. also a strong smell of fuel. Im getting annoyed with it.

try looking for a leaky air pipe... sounds like it's what it could be. Had a similar problem with my Sport a few years back...

Giles.

Yeah I was thinking something to do with air. I have replaced some pipes.Obviously not the right ones though. Will have a good look.Thanks. any hints to pipes that wear or perish most? Or could it just be any one. Also would this suggest the smell of fuel aswel? My fuel pump is also going nuts. You can hear it all the time.
