Taking an M52 box out of an E30 is not a nice job :(

Had a similar problem before on a different car and used a hole saw through the bottom of the bellhousing and a nice fitting bung afterwards

Pikey!

We tried the fishing it out with a magnet on a bit of string, we couldnt get a telescopic one in. I *may* have suggested cutting a hole into the gearbox with a holesaw and welding it back up - as a joke :chuckle:

I also must admit that I am responsible for a bell housing somewhere with a hole in it that BMW didn't put there!

hole saws were made for a reason.. a) to get at gearbox bolts behind bulkheads and b ) to retreive the rod out the bottom of bell housings :D

martins turbo M30 never fell apart despite him cutting the two top bolts off the bellhousing to allow easier gearbox removal! i'd happily put a hole in a bellhousing to save pulling a gearbox off.

However... brian, i'm shocked!!!!! :D

I must stress, I wouldnt do it on my own car :)

Bleeding the slave before it goes in is my preferred method

Fragpie, its that tight you have to lever the box over to get the slave in with the flexi line attached! 8O

That's you boys, look at the problems Cooks having with his conversion, and you boys with your mods to "boost" up the power LOL.
M30 may be older than you lot, but you seem to have forgotton the well know saying "Old is GOLD", not like this modern shit. 8)

What problems..?! A popped slave due to not being seated properly is nothing to do with the conversion.. Delusion is getting to you.

Old is out of date and behind the times.. Wake up and smell the reality. The M30's time is up

You dont agree its the way forward Rav? What will you do when all the M30 donks have been weighed in? It wont be long now the price of steel has gone up. Even the average M20's are not really worth repairing when for a bit more you can have yourself a more reliable/easy to maintain M50.

M30 older than 'us lot' :?

Its design is older than 99% on here

M50 is not modern either, it was designed over 20 years ago :)

Totally agree it is the way forward for most zoners, but it's not just me that likes the M30, there's plenty on here too.

Like I said in a previious post somewhere, if its worth "Converting" to 24V's then it has to be the "S" versions. 8)

That's a stupid thing to say. Obviously an S50 is a really good lump. All you waffle on about is how cheap and easy an M30 is to convert, and keep maintained. So all you will entertain is a cheap donk but you would only fit an S50. Which is the hardest 24v to get in. You can have a real work M52 that will uterly wipe your M30 donk out of sight for cheap money. You wouldn't entertain it. You talk some sh1te mate. Come on WTF?

WTF!! did you roll out the wrong side of the Bed!
That's not your normal replies. :?
What i am saying is that if I am going to change the engine it will be only for an S50.
I was offered one half way throught the M30 conversion, but due to me spending monies before hane I had to turn it down.
Has I been offered it a few weeks before hand I would have bitten his hand off, he only wanted £1k for the engine, box, ecu and loom all from a ZM roadster.
Engine was good as the guy origionally put in an LS3 corvette into the roadster.
But hey, can't complain, it's a cab and it'll only take soo much power before things go seriously wrong with the shell.

I may have been a little bent out of shape this morning. 20 month old baby getting her rear teath.

Fooking hell mate you should have snapped his had off. It would have been 3.2 S50 too.

Couldn't go in a cab though, no point. You would need a tin top for proper power. winkeye

That's what I thought, i think 200+bhp in a cab is enough, 300+ would seriously bend the fook out of it. 8O
