Hi

I have 318i 1988 Baur cab. The fuel guage plays tricks. I have been told to take the instrument cluster off and tighten the nut. Can anyone tell me how to do this, which screws to take off etc....

Remove the cover above the drivers knees...3 90 degree turn clips

Put your hand up behind the dash, there should be 2 knurled screws holding the 1st piece of trim on, remove this.

There's 2 screws behind this trim that need to be removed, and also 2 screws above the clocks holding the surround on.

There's another 4 screws in similar locations to the other 4 holding the cluster in place, remove these and tilt the cluster forward and down and undo the 2/3 plugs that connect to the back of the cluster, and any other wires (ABS light) and pull the cluster out, all of this would be easier with the steering wheel removed, but it can be done without removing the wheel.
