Thanks Simon13 thats a good lump of info :).... tbh i think it really does need to be a 325i......but....... i have chance of what appears to be a very nice 318is as well which is tempting me to say the least!....i would snap it up but would be annoyed if in a month or so im crying out for that bit more power, and i have start engine swapping before im ready, also i appreciate what your saying about 4pot to 6pot being tricky...i can well imagine!....if i can im going to hold out for 325, providing i can find a good one in budget...but next best option has to be the 318is, and from all the info on here an other sites it does sound a good motor :)....hmmm

Cheers
Ian

be warned with both cars engines! as both can have gasket and cracked head problems.

I bet nearly all 318iS are on their second head by now. again like the 2.5 alot of 318iS have been thrashed too and most have done over 100k and there are only about 900 or so left on our roads now mate.

The heads go on these as people rev them over 3k when the oil is cold so i'm told and they don't last long after that. Not alot of tuning options with this engine either really.

hold out for a 2.5! again in my opinion, the 2.5 does so many roles in one, lovely sound, torquey, still quite a fast car, good cruiser, Reliable, Not bad economy in normal driving, drifting!
ummm can still move with 4 up in it. Now a 318iS cannot do all of that!
