Having never seen a 325 with the head off except mine I didnt know the difference but a few people on here have said I have the early raised pistons.

Is there any way of telling for definite if the block and rest of engine are the early or late type?
By the look of things it was an early block with later everything else.

adam

yours is defo an early bottom end. i saw the pictures a couple of months back.

i should have a 2.5 bottom end in soom. although i could build you a 2.7 bottom end. but this will be a while.

I'll have to try and figure out why it has been changed. The pistons and crank measurements are standard.
How can I tell if the rest of the engine and ECU etc is old or new?
The TB seems the new shape from what Ive seen pictures of but as Its the only 325 Ive ever worked on Im not sure.

easiest way to tell is pull a piston and rod out and measure the skirt length Adam, the earlier pistons have a longer skirt with cutouts to clear the con rods on full induction stroke, the specs for each are listed on the link below dude

Cant get that link to work but cheers. I dont fancy taking out pistons as Ive never worked on a bottom end before but I suppose its f***ed anyway so Ive nothing to lose.
