Hi guys. I have a 325i that im keeping as close to original as possible.
I want to replace the original speakers with something that will fit behind the original speaker grills perfectly, without any problems.
Also, i want to do the same with the original tweeter pods as well. So a tweeter that will fit in the pod,the same size as the original would be great.

I know nothing about "ice" at all,but like my music and just require something that will bring me a bit of sound quality,as at the moment it's a bit sh1te!

Thanks in advance. 8)

right ideally you want to use alpine gear as they will fit behind the original tweeter pods but you will have to un-stick the ones that are in place (not easy job) 20 year old can be a little stubborn to say the least.
i will come back to you in abit for a component set to place in there...
Are you going to use an amplifier as also helps sound quality i know you want to keep it original etc but for a good set-up i have always used a small quality amplifier.. this can be hidden in may places in an e30...

First of all thankyou mate for the response. You sound like you know what im after.
Im on with the job of removeing the original nokia tweeters now,and yes they are a bit stubborn.
Dont really want to use anything other than the basic speakers/tweeters to keep originality(yes,im anal :D ).
Not too bothered about show standard sound quality either, just a basic setup that will be up to a good level quality cos at the moment, the 20year old speakers sound "tinny".

well all ican say is it also depends on the headunit being used if you are using a 20 yearold head unit i can confirmly say its always going to be a little on the poor side
for the OEM look you could have a Nackamichi Cd300 and this looks th part put is alo a very good base unit... as the specifiactions are very high for year of manufacture
i will get back to the search on the speakers.... bare with me i ament to be working lol winkeye

would recommend these:
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-sxe-1350s.html

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/mtx-roa ... ts502.html
as they are quite good for the money
as the ones in the kick well have to be quite shallow due to wiring behind them

for the rear shelf i would use these
as they are relaivly cheap but would give you a better sound quality than what is present ATM

also by some sound deading to go behind the speaker this will also enhance the quality
somethin like this:
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/dynamat ... r-kit.html
HTH helps if you were closer i could fit it for you also :D
cheers

not bad but they seem to have a very large magnets on them you require quite shallow ones for the front kickwells

Fowler, the CD300 is a pile of shit. Its a cheap head unit with a nak facia! For a start it only has a 1 Bit D A converter (the sound processor), its the CD400 or CD500 that are propper Naks with 24 Bit D A converters and much better spec. Both the 400 and 500 have an Aux input so you can run a ipod but only the 500 plays MP3 discs but yes they do look OEM ish and are one of the best head units for sound quality.

I have a CD500 for the sport.

Ash, as for speakers, the E30 saloon uses 13cm front and rear. The problem with the position of the fronts isn't just the poor location for sound quality, the recces isnt very deep either so speakers with a huge magnet wont fit here.

Rears are a bit better as the hole is deeper but if you can, try and get some of these as you can replace the original components with some newer ones. They were an option on E30 saloons which made part of the Hi Fi pack which included the tweeters in the front and a seperate amp.

Agreed that to make the most of the speaker a small 4 chanel amp should be used and there are places to hide it all. This is exactly what i have gone for and the only thing that is visible thats not oem is the head unit.

As for speakers, Alpine, Focal, MB quart, diamond audio, DLS are what you should be looking at.

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/speaker ... -13cm.html

This is the amp im using as the PDX amps are small and their design means that heat isnt and issue so location isn't as important as a conventional amp so much so that they can be stacked on top of each other.

Any questions just shoot me a PM Ash. HTH
