Afternoon

I'm just about to tackle the wiring on my track conversion, the loom is just about out now and I will be cutting out everything but the essentials. Car is a 325i sport, 1990.

Before I start, does anyone have a wiring diagram already cut down for a track car? If someone has and they're willing to pass a copy on, I'd appreciate it, if not, I'll start from scratch and record the process for anyone who needs it in the future.

I also have a perfect dash I have removed, is it possible to buy a fiberglass copy to go back in? seems a shame to use such a clean dash!

Thanks in advance for any help.

What I did was trace all the wire to where they went and got snipping. Took me 2 days at a relaxed few beers in the garage sorta pace but got there.

+1 about the dash though. I just want to shed the weight.

It's alot easier with the loom in the car.

I started one out of the vehicle and in the end gave up.

I now have a custom fuse box and plan to make my own loom from scatch.

Hi guys

Thanks for replying!

I'm quite experienced with looms, have built many over the years for everything from V8 Landy's to Skylines.

To be honest I prefer to have the loom on the work bench, I then split everything and chase it back to the ecu/fuse box and remove the wires I don't need entirely. In my landrover days I ended up building a nail board and laying out the looms from scratch, much nicer to do!

This is my first BMW though so will learn as I go along, should be fairly straight forward. I'll produce a diagram as I go along for anyone else contemplating building themselves a loom.

I'm drawing a blank on the fiberglass dash, I'm going fiberglass for doors, wings, bonnet and boot so would like to continue the lightweight theme if possible, any contacts or links would be appreciated.

Cheers

Wondering if it would be worthwhile finding a place who could make one?

They do exist, I remember seeing a new one for sale on ebay but probably a year or two ago now and I have no recollection at all of the company name.
For sale - E30 320i racer project - sold.

These guys sell FG and CF copies of most e30 parts including the dash. Their carbon door cards are particularly nice

Hi Mr Benn

Thanks for the link, I have written to the Dutch guys to see if they do a RHD dash, will report back when I hear from them.

Cheers

Hi Mat, sorry, I hadn't thought about them being LHD only.
