Thinking about getting a touring to use instead of a van to use for work.

Want the most economical version not fussed about power at all but it will need to carry a bit of weight so a 316 would be under powered.

Think a 318 is my best bet what sort of money should i be looking at spending??

318i would be the most economical out of the choice of tourers we have in this country, £500 to whatever someone is prepared to pay for a 318i, the 316i is n't as bad as people think, I would buy on condition rather than engine choice.

Get a clean one poss a 316 and drop an 318is lump in it. There are a few out there if you can't be bothered doing the swap yoursef!

320 touring got a 318 for free a couple month ago! Just keep an eye out and you should get one for a reasonable amount! Few hundred.

Couldn't agree more and if you really wanted you could slap on LPG as well.. good balance between power and MPG.

Tourer is a good choice and there are quite a few later reg 316/318's floating about at the moment

An E34 518 does this job very well, and has a bit more space than the E30. In fact, you wouldn't believe how much it carries. Yes, it's underpowered etc etc, but you're not buying this to track it, are you?! :chuckle:
