Hi all,

Another newbie to the e30zone! :)

I've just bought a 325i as a project car with a view to doing some track days and possibly a trip to the Nurburg (sp?) ring later in the year 8O

So far I have stripped the interior, bumpers and bits an pieces trying to get the car as light as possible.I have removed 90kg's so far with some more to come...

Future plans include bucket seats, rollcage and hopefully some more power!

Any sugestions welcome :P

1st off welcome!

I'd recommend sorting the brakes (better pads/fluid etc) if you're taking it to the ring!
Has your 325 got an LSD? you'll probably want one if not :)

Do you know about the ringers list?

and of course essential ring reading:

Robin

Wecome to the Zone, you will never be the same again  !

And Redhill eh? I guess you know the Royal Alexander & Albert School on Gatton Park? I was there for about 5 years, is it still going?

Cheers,

Mark.

Robin,

Thanks for the links regarding the Nurburg ring,I want to go more then ever now :P

There is a group of us going, some of which have been before. This is the first time for me though...........

I agree that sorting the brakes is a very good idea, they leave a little to be desired at the moment even on the road. The car does not have a lsd at the moment as it's a early 325i (1986) but it only cost £200 so I can't grumble too much

Have you been before and if so what did you think? Is it all it's cracked up to be?

Mark,

Not sure of the school your talking about, may not be there any more.I have only lived in Redhill for a couple of years so do not really know of it.Where abouts is it-I'll have a look if your interested?

Steve,

The school was on Gatton Park itself, where the late Sir Coleman of Colemans mustard lived. As I remember it's the only real hill around the area and was about 15-20 minute walk from town. I remeber the library and I think if i walked from there I'd go past sainsburys on my right as I walked out of town, but I'm 27 now and this was about 15 yrs ago! Bloody hell 15 yrs, in fact I was 9 when I started there so it's more like 18 yrs ago! I'm now depressed.

Anyway I've had no luck finding the school via internet etc so you could be right. I was one of 1500 kids spread over 9 boarding houses, with two swimming pools, 9 or so footie pitches, rugby pitches, baseball diamond, three lakes and a 9 hole golf course.

Not to worry either way, just thought I'd ask while I had the chance!

Yep been 5 or 6 times, first time 1998! try to go at least once a year, funds allowing - its great :)

Re: brakes what I did on my 325 before going to the ring:

Braided hoses
SRF race fluid
Ferodo DS2500 pads all round
ATE Power discs at front and solid ATE at back

Would recommend this setup as I found it impossible to make the brakes fade, which is a worry att the ring with the long downhill stops (have had the brakes die on other cars!)
Cheers,
Robin
