Coolant system

i have just got this bodged 325 conversion....

there are smaller coolant pipes on the left hand side of the engine what are these for ?

much smaller than the heater hoses... the engine came from an e34.

they look as if they should join, but im thinking they are for something else ?? does the coolant system go through the intake manafold ?

between the throttle body and inlet manifold there should be a silver plate

mite plug in to the bottom of this, thats what the really small ones on my IS do
