There's no kit available, fit an E46 330i clubsport rack, 2.9 turns lock to lock and is a faster ratio than the 1.9L Z3 rack

TAS used to do them. I bought a kit a few years ago On eBay and paid top dollar (£275), sent it off to a specialist and it didn't fit. Was so pissed off I believe it is still with them.

A unassisted quick rack will be for body builders or those with bus sized steering wheels!ross_jsy wrote:If you are after a quick ratio rack kit, check out the group buy section.

Is that because the quick kits were designed for the pre-facelift manual rack not the post facelift one?oldroydsr4 wrote:TAS used to do them. Don't believe so, I sent it with postface lift and they tried both. I should really call them bug it has probably been there 18months.

They can only manufacture manual racks so you'd need to source a manual one to fit it to. From others I've seen they'll be in the region of £100 each. They can make it any ratio we require so if we can come to a decision on what ratio would be best that'd be good, I presume something like 2.5/2:1?
The catch is I need a certain amount of interest/orders before anything goes ahead so if you'd be interested please put your name down.

Do e46 racks fit in as easily as e36 racks?e301988325i wrote:There's no kit available, fit an E46 330i clubsport rack, 2.9 turns lock to lock and is a faster ratio than the 1.9L Z3 rack
Nobody here in the states ever fits e46 racks, but I see it mentioned a lot here. I don't think the RHD/LHD would make a difference in how they fit..

I'd say more easily as you use the E30 steering coupling, however only one specific rack is suitable, the 330i clubsport one which has increased resistance for better feel, stock ones are 1 finger light unfortunately. You will also need to add a PAS oil cooler.

I'm loving my Z3 rack tbh. Quick and tight. Simple (awkward) to fit, and generally a great mod.
Would like to try an E46 steering rack to feel the difference. To be fair, for the ratio's is it that different to bother with?
Does the States have 330i clubsports? As BMW's model marketing 'could' be different over there. As above, the others fit, but are supposedly really light, which you dont want in an E30!

From what I've heard the E46 racks are just as easy, but as above require a PAS oil cooler to be fitted. I haven't looked into how people fit these, or what they use etc.Do e46 racks fit in as easily as e36 racks?

Uni is killing the project.

There's very little between the ratio's, the E46 rack is weightier though. Z3 racks are becoming rocking horse ****, E46 ones are easier to find.

The banjo bolt is a different part number, and it has been tried on a normal rack by 'MONKEY' and made no difference.

If you find out the part number for the equivilent LHD clubsport rack could you post up the part numbers stamped onto the rack. I've looked before without any luck. CheersNic01101011 wrote:
