Andyboy wrote:Aah, so you're going back to your Rootes - they're not quite the same though Peter. The Rapist was a two door vesion of the Hillman Sphincter/Singer Gazebo whereas the Singer Vague (shown above) was the Super Sphincter/Humber Septic body.
For true Rootes Paedophilia you need the Minx based Commer Cob and a beard.
BTW..
Sphincter = Minx
Gazebo = Gazelle
Vague = Vogue
Septic = Sceptre
Surely the holy grail is the Humpher Super Sniper ? Lovely big wipe clean leather bench seats . IIRC one of the first cars with child / boy locks . A fiddlers true dream chariot !

Child locks, to keep the errant young Boys firmly ensconced in the rear (oooer) whilst you administer punishment.
The Super Sniper was okay, but I see you and raise you a '65 four headlamp Imperial. To think these so nearly had a Chrysler V8 rather than some wheezing straight six from a 1952 Bedford truck.

My old man and his brother had a Super Snipe back when they were lads in Jersey. I'm told one night they were driving back from the boozer pished up, my dad's brother driving and my old man sat with his brother's bird in the middle. His brother turns to see the old man having a grope of his bird and has a go at remonstrating with him, subsequently putting the car into a good old bit of Jersey granite wall. Apparently it was such a tough old bird the wall came off worse.

Surely a Pullman would be more up your street boys, with its glass 'voyeur' divider and spacious rear compartment

I personally believe the Imperial is a bit too ostentatious , what with all that superfluous chrome and factory fit vinyl roof. When leaving a funfair late at night with a full load (ooh err) one doesn't want to attract any unnecessary attention !

Then you need a Hawk Shooting Break with less chrome and a knarly 2.1 four cylinder petrol donk as well as extra room for Boys AND camping gear for those weekends away. When you start talking vinyl roofes and extra chrome, you're getting a bit Vauxhall Viscount for my liking. So tacky, so 'new money'. Yuk.
