Black Paint Repair Procedure?

Hi,
At risk of making myself sound like a cock...

My car is standard black (086-non metallic). I've got a few areas I'm going to repair (bottom of wings, arches, sills etc). the plan is to get them fixed over a period of time and then get it painted probably up to the door trim all around with proper spary gun etc all in one go.

So in the meantime I've bought some anti-rust primer, grey primer and halfords spray paint black 086. Plan is to apply anti rust primer etc to bare metal, sand down, then apply grey primer, sand again, then spray with the halfords black spray can. Question is will this be sealed or do i need to put a laquer on top? i.e. to make sure it's sealed until it's properly done. Also what sort of grade sanding am I looking at inbeween the different layers?

Would the car have been laquered originally?

I dont think non-metallic paint has lacquer.

some do ,
the best way you will know it when you rub the panel down with wet and dry is if you get milky water or black water ,if milky then its lacquered

ok cheers, if it was lagured does that mean the halfords stuff should be tomake sure it's watertight or will it be anyway?

depends if you brought base coat black or gloss black ?

not sure! It was just the halfords spray can they do...number 086 which is the black for the car. Always presumed that was the top coat stuff. I've actually pained some little bits before with it and it is glossy come to think of it.

Cheers. Do you know how it should be finished? i.e. let the top coat harden for a couple weeks then polish or do you wet and dry then polish/cut?

i found if you put paint on then laquer while the paint is sticky (not wet) then wait about 30 mins and then cut it works better as the laquer is still soft but not so soft it comes off
