Dilemma What shell i do
Moderator: martauto
Well my sport is rotten
fuse box area, both rear boxes, both side seals, scuttle panel, wings and so much more, my dilemma is that i dont know what to do with it, one thing i do know is i dont have the know how and money to weld it myself i`m thinking of breaking it or finding another shell and re-shell it as my engine is really good, sell it as it is or i have still got this touring which is solid i`m sorta of thinking breaking the sport to either exchange or sell parts for touring to do a sorta euro touror with my rm BBS`s

yeah but a ture enthusiast would deal with it + i need the sport for parts as the touror is only a 316 (with cambelt gone) so would wont the engine, sell the leather for a touring leather and the kit for a 4 door kit.............

Most E30 Sports are very rusted now, and half their owners don't even know it so I doubt your alone!
Going by what you have said sorting the body work on yours to a factory standard (i.e. stitch/spot welding and brazing in new OEM panels) will cost £3k+ for a good job with re-spaying.
Your best bet is to find a nice solid basic spec E30 in the same colour, and do a full re-shell. It will only cost the amount you buy the car for, but a lot of your time.
Re-shell it.

if i re-shell it i would really need to look for a sport shell wouldn`t i as if not it would only be a look a like.
i have sourced a shell but the guy wont pull his finger out of his ass (tommy22
) and tell me if i`m having it or not, which is in lachs silver.

It depends if you mind it not being the original shell. You can swap the chassis numbers/ID's over. Personally I wouldn't do this, but then again I ended up spending rather too much restoring my Sport.

Personally i'd reshell or make something out of the touring, what colour is the touring, can't remember?
If you can find another 2 door it may want to replace the scuttle
, end of the day a Sport is just a specced up2 door so don't see an issue swapping everything over to another shell, especially if its the same colour.
Bearing in mind what you paid for the sport i don't think you can lose whatever you do.

Can you not reshell it and get the log book changed to sport? OK its not 100% original but its a rust free car. Or get a bundle of money out and have a new panel with the VIN of your car and welded into the new shell.
yeah it`s sterling silver, if i have to reshell i might aswell do something with the touror as i have it already and dont have to furk out any money and because i know its solid i wont have to worrie about rust or rot. if i do the vin plate change wont that be called RINGING it.

Well i guess you could call it that Baz
Make an uber cool touring, mine will get brocken sooner or later if your after a kit at the time.
Oh and good luck for the match later, surrounded by Villa fans here at work so will no doubt be cheering them on against the chavs in an hour!

Thanks fella.........UP THE VILLA
yeah i would be looking for a kit for it so keep me in mind, well as from the 18th of this month my sport will be of the road so might as well strip it

Failed the MOT then, or just simply no chance it'll go through?
Dave i`v not even going to give it one (mot) i`v looked over it and its not good, just spent over £400 on the engine getting it back up to power so i`ll be keeping that just have to make my mind up.
anyway kick off now back later

IMO ringing is fraudulantly changing a vehicle ID. You are undertaking restoration.Baz666 wrote:yeah it`s sterling silver, if i have to reshell i might aswell do something with the touror as i have it already and dont have to furk out any money and because i know its solid i wont have to worrie about rust or rot. if i do the vin plate change wont that be called RINGING it.
Plus you own both the original and the donor vehicle so you are not aquiring goods by deception.
If you go to prison I will come and see you
