Hiya guys,
Has anyone here painted the chrome on a pre facelift 3er? If so how did you go about it? is it a good idea? etc.
Thanks

Bad idea, paint will eventually just flake off. Doesn't matter what you use to prep it either.
Either need to get some metal bumpers that were factory painted (fairly rare) or somehow remove all of the chrome.

Orb sander with 80/100 grit sand paper to scuff the chrome
Light film coat with a good Quality 2 pack etching primer.
prime & paint your desired color...
It works 100%
The only time ive seen it peel , is when the car was involved in a Crash..paint didnt peel off the bumper though, the chrome plating under the paint came off the metal...
