ok im on the lookout for a daily driver and really like the idea of another E30 and have seen a nice 316i with 175k miles but no history.
What would one be like to use as a daily? bear in mind that its still going to be a bit quicker than my non-turbo diesel fiesta i have now, just curious what they are like mpg wise etc and are they unbearably slow?
316i's

is it an m10 engined one? if so mine does around 30 mpg with the standard carb if you stick a weber on there it'll be even better. speed wise it aint rapid but its got some bottom end grunt and you will have to hit a tank head on to stop the engine cause there're bullet proof

They aint too bad. If you want 'nippy' 1.6's then no. But its feels slower than it actually is.
A looked after one is as reliable as any E30. As a daily they're fine and the MPG is around your average 30mpg for the 4 potters.
@iceox - 316i's are M40. 316's are M10s. I like the little m10 engines.
