I was thinking about getting the gear and handbrake gaiters in matching beige.

Should I?

I might put remote central locking. I think Alex installed one aftermarket one. The only problem is that it has a aftermarket immobilizer which I don't want to interfere. I also want to get that feature were you can control the windows with the fob.

Found some at the bottom of the rear valance on each corner. Prodded it with my screw driver.

So it looks like the rot has to be cut out, I'm sure the hole is much bigger and new metal welded in. Its the only way to do it. No P40 here. I suspect its because the under-seal is peeling which is the cause.

The rest of the body is fine. Some spots of surface rust on the boot lip. And light surface rust around the boot floor. Prodded with screw driver and its nothing. Battery tray has some surface rust. I'm going to have to do a lot of sanding and under sealing on this car.

I just want to tackle all this before it gets worse.

Yeah the hole will probably be much bigger. Is it an expensive area to weld?

No. In the rear foot well theres rust stains which are all solid, I'm guessing this from the rusty jack that was there. The whole boot is naked no carpet as I took them out.

Its been out in the rain before for days before, no leaks.

Started cleaning out the arches.

I thought there was a lot of crap in the arch lip. But the arch lip seems to be much thicker on the Cabby's.

Looks like you've got a really tidy cabby there tbh. 8)

Can I just say, don't do the gear/handbrake gaitors beige. I've got black in my car and they look great with the centre console.

Update

Instead of respraying the door as it wont match the other panels. Going to respray the whole left side For £330. As the right hand side apart from a few blemishes is OK.

Want to respray the whole car in the future though when I have the money. Will cost about £1200 to £1300.

Guy doing it is top quality as I've seen cars hes done before.

Looks like the car was resprayed badly in the past and they have not bothered to take the trims off and not prepared it properly. Some idiot probably done it on the cheap.

Got some nearly new tyres ready for the cabby. I was looking at Toyo TR-1's but £220 for all 4.

I dont think so, so I bought these Subaru wheel with nearly new 205/55/15 Bridgestone Potenza RE71. This model has been around for a long time but there very good. First used on the Porsche 959 :D .

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 500wt_1182

I dont want to spend £160 to refurb the BBS's so I've accumulated 14 ones which some of them I got for very cheap and I will choose the best ones out of those. I will serve those mint Subaru wheels ones I've taken the tyres off them.

Proper Council!

If you know how to weld then buy one. I wish I could.

Quite big hole, but ones its done it will be worth it in the end.

Looking at the rust in the cabby, i can see exactly how to patch it and where panels overlap etc and fabricating a piece of metal is easy so i think why not :D

I dont think i would trust many people with it, ive seen previous repairs on here that have rotted back out and i'am worried that someone else wont cut the rust out properly.

thing is i have no electricity at the garage and the only means i have or moving it now are when it goes for its MOT :?
