I have been a member of the forum for about 18 months now
and when i first started logging onto the old forum i thought
wow this is a really cool place to be

you had people falling over each other to help others out

now days it seems like they fall over each other to see who can slag someone off first.
(not aimed at everybody, and i am not pointing fingers)

i think this place has a lot of people that are far too oppinionated to be let loose on a forum.

it was a pleasure to log on and make a post on the old zone now days i sit here and think
oh i wont post that because someone will have something nasty to say
and i cant be arsed having arguments over the internet.

and i think it makes for a bad impression with new members joining up
what with all the coverage the zone is getting lately.

i just dont understand what is going on lately
it feels like a workplace away from work

I am just glad that there are meets where there are regulars that you can have a decent converstation with
without the chance for someone else to come in and ruin things

well thats all i am gonna say on the subject
not looking to start a ball rolling just having a mini rant i suppose

(waits in anticipation to be slagged off for comments made but i hope not)

Maybe, but there's still an awful lot of very friendly and helpful people here.

I do tend to stay away from the more flammable threads though.

Mate, u are so right :?

ive been here a year now, and i still remember how dave was the first dude to answer my first post, and there was the gang

karan and russ, moofles and bootyman, simon (m3 and sport :) ) and of course Jesus..

so many top lads here just to hang around and TALK ABOUT THEIR CARS!!!!!

not so much of the football,or who was shaggin who, or what colour shirt i should wear out to the club on friday.

i remember when the quality of information on the zone was unparalleled and there wasnԚ´t a question that couldnt be answered, though there were many many ways of doing it it was never a pissin competition.

nowadays, all the "OG`s" have gone, the zone is awash with looney posters, nobody knows a thing anymore about how to do this that or the other,... i dont blame the mods for freaking out on the occasional member, trying to keep the Zone tidy shouldnt be part of their job, it should all be up to the users to self-regulate the relavancy of the posts.

If we dont get stright lads, the Zone will be a waste of time and an embarrasment to the "e30 tribe"

Get it together lads before someone has enough and closes the place down,

Johnono

I spent best part of 5 years on a Vauxhall forum and every couple of months someone would say it had all gone down hill and all the good posters had gone etc.

History is history though, so think forwards as to how everyone could make the place better.

I think the zone is pretty good myself.

Lets not look at the old zone through to much of rose tinted spectacles! It too had problems, threads were locked then people ripped other people off and so on. THe zone is larger now, and perhaps so are some its problems, but we must also believe and see all the GOOD that is still very much there.

Just ignore all the bad threads, don't read them, let alone reply. There pretty easy to spot. That way people don't get a rise.

Unfortunately the massive growth of the zone from a previous 1,500 members of the old zone to a staggering 7,000+ means it's bought a lot of morons along.

Unfortunately iy's not so good as it used to be when every member knew everyone else. It was a very close group of enthusiasts. We are averaging about 30 new members a day at the moment!!!!!

well i joined in december, and was greeted by johnono of all people, follwed by andy p, simon (whos car i eventually bought) as well as some old faces that i only see at meets or don't see at all, nick 325, e30 dave etc, also the likes of splondike and cuk who don't get on very much

i know that people move on and have better things to do than spend all of thier time on here posting all the time.

it is still a cool place, there are still some cool people about here, they know who they are becasue there never is a crossed word between each other, and even debates always end in agreement and are treated with respect etc.

just certain people get a little heatted it times, its bound to happen, but it does not make them bad people or arseholes or anyhting like that.

i'm just glad that there are some new people coming through other wise there would be about 50 of us that were regular posters, and you would only get 4 or 5 on at a time, if you were lucky and it would be slow and people interest would soon drop out very quickly.

i am glad the way that the zone has grew, i do love the old one and the atmosphere it had, but i also like the newer bigger zone too, meets are twice the size of the first one i went to, there are a much greater wealth of people to talk to etc.

now lets stop arguing and get down to some freindlyness (not in that way 8O )

As a newbie, I thought it seemed ok, I got a fair few replies to all my silly newbie questions! :)
I know a lot of forums are going downhill. I'm a long term member of SSC (the dreaded Saxo sports club) and it's very mean now. Easy to get dragged into it though. :(

I know what you are saying tyler........

It's good to have new people, of course, and you gotta take the rough with the smooth.

Not everyone is gonna have the same opinions/background etc.

It's the nobs who appear on forums sometimes who cause problems!

One of the best things is the meets, cos you get to meet the people, see the cars and go drifting! (Sorry Johnono, I know you are mileage away! :( )

But hey, the vast majority of people are on here for the right reason so enjoy!

Mods, chuck out the wan*ers!

I've not been on here as much as I was, but I've been busy recently, and I'm sure I'll always pop back regardless of my situation!

Hope to see some people at a meet soon, and chat to others who can't make it!

I'll shut up now!

I do remember the good 'old Zone, think ive been on here about 1.5 years now, as Jhonono says, cuk, moofles with his subtle E30, russ and his iS all were great people who helped me decide on buying my 1st E30.

The old days were all good, but im glad the zone is progressing, take for example the zone shop, that would never of happened if we still had a few members.

it is true it's a different place now, there are plenty who just like to post but have nothing to say really of any use. Which i'm sure some us find frustrating as it clogs up some god threads. I find now when some people post i just ignore what they are saying and scroll down until i see any sensible things written.
I never used to do this and always read what everyone said

there are also folks on here who read what people say and repeat it with little or no experience of what they are saying and give incorrect facts!

What i find is as we have had so many new members alot of the same questions get asked

whats this worth, whats an LSD, what springs, how low, smoked lights, red lights etc

What i find is that the people who know get bored of answering the same questions over and over again, as anyone would u see.

So we need some new peeps who know there stuff to be post whores and help out, there are plenty more on here, there are people we all know who read mainly and don't post, help out boys with the keyboard!

The forums cool. Although i dont go on as much as i used to. There does seem to be a lot of random bitching, but i guess thats what you get on a public forum.

The only thing that really annoys me is all the pointless threads. The increasing number of sections , Pub talk etc, means that people just talk propper bull*cks all day long. Like the that thread that was purely for spamming, and had like 100 pages. That just annoys the hell outa me for some reason!!!

The newbie questions are all good if you have the time to answer them, when I was less busy I'd answer them as best I could.

I think a couple of stickies would be a good idea, covering the basics. Or maybe a newbie/beginner section covering a few topics?

I'd imagine i joined when it was in it's infancy as there was hardly any members at all then. Infact i remember seeing Ceasar Bob join up and take a look at this place after he bought my 318is some years ago.
Still, take all the sh!t with a pinch of salt, it's nothing more than a bit of banter. However there are still a few ready to slag off for the hell of it. Makes for a good read though.

Ho shut up and stop your moaning you grannies. You lot sound like you should be in a knitting class not a forum :D

Seriously though, I've been on the Zone a while now and whilst i've seen peeps come and go and one or two nasty threads, i think by in large the Zone is fab. I wasn't able to log on on from my work PC cause as some of you know, i'm now in Italy. I missed the Zone terribly, then i thought i'd try my luck yesterday and all of a sudden i coud log on, so here i am.

I think some valid points have been made so far, but the trouble makers i've noticed so far seem to be single thread posters. A majority of the old gang and the new members are pure E30 lovers and are not interested in the silly back stabbing that sometimes goes on, especially when someone is trying to sell their car. I think we need folks like pacerpete though. He does rip into people, but it's in a light harted way and 99% of the time, he's actually right in what he's saying. He's just not the most conservative person you'll ever meet when it comes to openions winkeye :D

Hi Guys
I am a newbie, to this new site, i never saw or experienced the old site. But all in all my experience has been quite a good one, no issues here, everyone always helped me out when i asked a question even if it was a stupid one. I am starting to "know" some of the guys even if i am all the way in SA. A lot of really good genuine guys out there!!

I have been seeing the posts where people are arguaing but as you see i donÔš't get involved, i figure its something i shouldnÔš't stick my nose in, because i am so new.

But anyway thatÔš's my 2cents.

I LOVE E30 ZONE!!

I never experienced the old zone, but I did recieve a warm welcome on here :D

I've been around since Feb (2 days before I bought my e30  ) and have always found this site informative and useful.

Hopefully i have gained some useful info on the e30 and have tried to relay that to n00bs as best as possible, as i feel its important to remember we were all n00bs once.

I've also tried to help the zone out by making the "basic servicing guides" that are available for the m20,m40 and m42.These have yet to be hosted but PM me if you want them :D

there are a few hundred "hardcore" zoners that post regularly and keep this place ticking over, if all 7000+ members were posting the zone would be a madhouse.

Possibly having a section for newbies or FAQ's pertainong to e30 ownership would be an idea-we could get the "oldskool" to author them to ensure the info is correct.
The only thing that really annoys me is all the pointless threads. The increasing number of sections , Pub talk etc, means that people just talk propper bull*cks all day long. SwirlyE30&datourer as the author of the thread in question, i offer an apology for the fact it annoys you. :(

It was originally set up as a thread to celebrate the fact I reached Squatter level, and i only expected 2 or 3 responses at most. However it has grown somewhat.

Now it is almost like a coffee-shop/pub where folks can drop in and see how other forum members are doing in areas outside e30 ownership (eg daz's tiling winkeye  )

to my mind, it draws a lot of spamming from other threads (off topic moments) also it provides somewhere for a natter.Much as I love my e30, I cant talk about it for 8hr straight. It also keeps folks on the zone for extended periods so they can pick up on threads that need answered.

As for "do these people even drive an e30",
I have 1,
daz has 3ish,
smithy has 1,
zayyan has 1,
329iturbo is too young to drive in Holland (but is gonna get a 316i when he turns 18)
Johnono has one not unlike yourself winkeye,
so i'd say we do like and drive our e30's

The real problem seems to be certain folks that log on, try to provoke arguements and we rise to it.

I think if we all *woosaaaa* a bit, then the attention seeking monkeys will swing to another tree

thats my view, please feel free to comment :D

Its a damn good forum, im now logging on a good few times a day.....

Yes there is a few members messing about, the only thing you can really do is pm a word of warning to them.....

Also i think it would be good to do a FAQ section to answer a lot of the questions, ie diff ratios & diff fitment etc as thats a very common one, and bhp, And H&R Kit fitting ie the diffrence between a 325i kit and 320i

I think that would answer a lot of un-answerd questions as there does seam to be quite a few of them at the moment, i know i had a bit off trouble finding out how to shorten the prop......

Went to the stevanage meet a while back was really good to meet people off here and put names to faces! hope to see you all at the next meet!

Other than that keep up the good work

And a big thanks to e30adam for bringing us all together!!
