Hay yall,

I've managed to procure separately an M50 gearbox, wich is a ZF box I think from an e34. And also an e36 325i driveshaft.

With these two items I was hoping to replace my knackered m40 box...

However they don't fit :( The output flange on the ZF box is larger than the e36 driveshaft doughnut. I looked up the part codes on realoem and it lists a different and larger doughnut for the e34 525. DOH.

So if I get an e34 driveshaft can I use that? Maybe with the back half of the e30 or e36 shaft?

Cheers!

Well OK after a bit more hot and heavy realoem action it looks like the 328i or 325TDS prop are the ones to go for for this box.

It just confused me cause I must have seen a million people say the 328 prop is the one to have in general, but nobody said anything about needing the early e34 box with the 96mm flange to go with it. It seems that most m50 boxes have the 78mm flange so a 328 prop would be no good to most people surely??

I dunno, fuck it, ebay here I come... again lol

Can anyone help with this?

I have a ZF gearbox and will shortly be buying a prop, and I've been told it's the 328i prop that is required.

Can anyone confirm?
Parts needed:

M40/M20 ignition coil with high voltage lead

Some E36 325i's had getrag boxes which used a smaller E30 sized flange, most had the ZF box though which comes with the large flange
E34 props are useless

Ah so I was just unlucky in getting a 325i prop from a small flanged car?

stup86, just sounds like its something to be aware of. I would measure the hole pitch on the flange on your box and make sure the prop matches - something that I probably should have done :o:
