m50 into e30

hi,am lookin at puttin a m50 2.5 out of a e34 into my e30.
does anyone know what mpg they do. and some1 said theres to types a early 1 which bmw had come backs on and a later one which is better.how do you tell the differences.cheers

My M50'd touring returns a dissapointing 31mpg.
For comparision,my 2.7 engined cabbie gives 33mpg without trying to drive economicaly.
Problem with the M50 is that it is unrewarding to drive at low rpm,but comes alive above 4000rpm,but this is not helpful regarding fuel economy.

dissapointing 31mpg in a touring? Mine does 18mpg in a 2 door saloon! I do tend to rev it a "tad" and the engine does have a few things wrong which doesn't help it! Mine is a "early" engine - a non vanos one.

Well they do circa 30 mpg in an E36 so it should be better than that unless you thrash it?

Sounds like they were talking about the M52 2.8 not the M50 2.5?

cheers for your help guys. at the min ive a 320i m20 ive bought a mint 90k 2.5 m20 but after seein some e30 with m50s on here made me wana do that. would you m50 it or just sick with the m20 2.5 or have you got any ideas .
