Great progress. With the viscous coupling, I got a hammer and hit the spanner with one big smack and it did the trick.

Did you phone the dealer and they send it through the post?

mine isnt attached to the alt belt so if i hit it with a hammer its just going to fly round.

I need something to hold it in place, what do other people use???

also is it worth fitting a new one while its off

no just put the belt around the waterpump pulley, use the mole grips as close to the pulley as you can so its like using a strap type oil filter remover, if you know what i mean :D

Bargin :D

bought a pas and alt belt for the IS last week one was about £1.50 and the other £2 something 8)

halfrauds trade card FTW :D

when i did the viscous on the IS it needed more than a shock with a hammer, i had jammed it still somehow, must have taken me 2 hours to do the whole thing

Plan of action today was to finish off cam belt but since my mole grips have gone walkies  i decided to get headlights, grills and obc back on aswell as change the thermostat.

The headlights i had were pretty crap one had a broken carrier and one needed a new adjuster, luckly i had loads of super glue which glued the carrier back together. I had loads of adjuster bits from where i fitted new ones to the IS so i used some on these and have them all working. Ive also painted the headlight rings and cleaned them to death with glass cleaner.

they are the wrong ones for the year but they will get me by for now

The grills have been scrubbed clean and soaked in auto glym vynal and rubber stuff.

Results look amazing 8)

i fitted the grills with new clips and screws

OBC installed :D

I decided to do the thermostat but i got so far and got stuck, Again  4 pots are easier to work on

How do i get the bloody thing out?????

should it not just lift out?????

should look good dez, i cant insure it till Feb 11 so next summer, once its back together i'am going to cut all the shitty rot out and take it to a mate who does MOT's, he is good at welding too, he welded the footwells in my old 316 and he did a proper job too, i cut the hole out back to clean metal and he cut the metal the right size and welded it in, not the usual MOT patch over rust jobs :)

no i cant, i bought a 300ml spray tin off parts auction paint section, and wrote the part number down, Its over £10 for a 300ml aerosol thats half the size of the small ones in halfrauds 8O worth it though. The caps on them have a good spray pattern and come out in a flat line unlike halfrauds rattle cans which spray in a "fountain" effect if that makes any sence.
