Thouht i'd spruce up the boring interior on my e38

Decided to change the wood trims with carbon fibre inserts.
I used 3m carbon fibre film, really easy to apply and looks absolutly brilliant.

Next up (which i have already started) is to refurb or shall i say recolour the leather interior.

Here are some pics of the inserts, will put some pics of the leather interior refub up later.

Let me know what you guys think.

cheers

Goldy - I like it - looks oem. What colour are you doing the interior - starting to grow a fondness for these big buses - the majority seem well spec'd.

The same colour, don't think this is the car to change the colour!

These cars are brilliant, pleasure to drive.

I'll upload some pics of the seats, i have before, during and after pics.

The wood trim on all of these older bm's seem to date quite badly...the brushed aluminium really updates them alot, and i'm seeing alot of these sorts of mode, i.e. carbon or all black.

How easy was the stuff to work with, and what the feel like to touch?

very easy to work with, it's quite thick so doesn't easily split.
I used a heat gun for the corners, really easy to mould around.

Feels just like carbon fibre, has the etched grove on the material, most probably the closest thing to carbon fibre.

3M products are brilliant

kind of finished - I still need to clean up all of the overspray (i run out of masking paper) it's quite easy to clean off with some thinners. I also need to go over the blue piping to finish it of nicely.

Seats are looking much better. Might have to do that to my E30 seats. I do like the carbon effect dash but not sure if its for me. You have done a good job though.

Will have to see it next time in down south.

Great results there - really like the carbon effect

BTW mine's up for auction and should have cleaned the leather like yours before listing it
Previously owned loads of old E30s, E34s, a few E36s, E32s, E39s and an E38.

Currently in a diesel Audi - miss me old E30's....

really like the look of that carbon film.

i absolutely detest the wood trim in my e36, i was planning on painting it an ultra gloss black like the piano black effect in some new cars, but having seen those pics i might change my mind.

it's not cheap though :?

do you think it would be durable enough to use on the interior door pull handles too?
cheers,

harry

should be, the material is very strong.

I have had no issues at all yet, it's quite easy to clean too.

I highly recomend 3m products, can't beat it
