The engine number on my C2 2.5 does not match the V5  ; I half suspected this, so I just need to find out what it's got.

The block has "84" cast into it, the head has "12". Is it possible to identify what type of M20 it is from these?

Cheers.

hi m8.

u said the car had been reshelled in another thread i believe.
maybe theyve left the original engine number on the v5 from the new shell?

I doubt it; the engine number on the V5 starts with 225, which denoted an Alpina C2 2.5 engine - I can't see it properly, but the number on this engine doesn't seem to match Alpina criteria.

On the bright side, maybe it's a 2.7?
