What you should have checked first - the condition of the C192 injector loom plug and socket, under the inlet manifold. Check under the rubber boot.

The coolant temperature sensor.
Teal/aqua coloured plug.
It has a varying resistance with regard to coolant temperature.
The Engine computer uses the changing values to adjust for the appropriate amount of fuel with regard to coolant/engine temp.
When the coolant/engine is stone cold , it needs a lot of fuel.
When the engine is at operating temp it needs less fuel.
You CTS might have failed and is telling the computer that the engine is stone cold, so the computer is overfueling the engine.

It could also be that the wiring to the CTS is broken.

C192 plug has been inspected and all looks fine, not sure if this has anything to do with it but idle is very rough (iacv seems to be working as it buzzes),

Pull the new CTS and test it on a stove top.

I recently bought two engine position sensors from my local BMW dealer....One them was bad.

If the CTS is good, the DME is another suspect.

CTS is good as i bought a 200ohm resistor and pop'd it into the connecter to see if it made a difference but no change, also 2day i swaped the DME and a IACV from my friends working 325i and still no change, idles like shit and stinks of fuel!! :(, Do you think the lumpy idle could be related to dodgy valve clearances? As apparently it's supposed to have a phase 2 BBR cam (yet to confirm),
