Not being bitchy but with a brand new car there isnt really much to look at is there? Everythings as clean and shiney as it was when it was built and thats about it, the 2 cars are for a collector/museum, it would be a shame to start putting mileage on them now.
If Bonkers really wanted an M3 to drive im sure he would go and buy one with some miles on it, it would be wrong IMO to use these (not to mention silly due to the financial side)
Maybe he should make Xworks an offer he cant refuse so he can have a minter to go belting round a track in?
He will have to get in the cue a prince has made a very impressive offer already
Xworks needs an S54 motor in i reckon!
I hope you were talking about Portsmouth there and not the beautiful Boro!

I'm curious to know what bonkers uses as a daily drive. I bet it's a tatty old Focus or something random like that!

Delivery mileage cars can still be used, albeit to a very limited degree - pulling the speedo sensor plug off the diff and driving a couple of miles 2 or 3 times a year just to keep it all working. You would need to do something about the fuel though - after a year it's almost useless so you'd need to add a couple of gallons and then drain what's left again.
We've all been jammy in life to some degree. In my case it was a 1959 XK150S for £100, a 1972 RS1600 for £150, Francis Rossi's Cooper S for £300 - all horrible wrecks but all right place/right time scenarios when there is a chunk of £££ to be made for bugger all effort
I still get excited finding an E30 LSD in a scrapyard!

I reckon it's a 180'000 mile 02 plate Pug 307 diesel. After a while surrounded by nice cars you end up not really giving a sh*t.snakebrain wrote:I'm curious to know what bonkers uses as a daily drive. I bet it's a tatty old Focus or something random like that!

Does it have a tax disc?
Does it have an MOT?
Does it have a good battery?
Can I smoke in it and not give a toss?
He's a successful businessman, I'd hazzard a guess that he drives a vechicle that shows a certain level of success- big Merc etc. I doubt he's your average second-hand car lot bloke smoking around in whatever is on part-ex!snakebrain wrote:I'm curious to know what bonkers uses as a daily drive. I'm not saying you need a flash motor to say 'look at me I'm successful' but in the business world a crap car says crap business. One needs to project a certain image to be taken seriously sometimes...
I wonder where this line of thread is going down...
Not really. The founder of NCP carparks drove a Mark 2 Cavalier for years. The guy who was the Queens own art advisor (and not poor...) drove a series of knackered Volvo Estates. A very wealthy property developer I know drives a 1993 740i. George Lucas (as in Star Wars) drives an old Porsche 928S. David Bowie had a Volvo 240 when he lived in the States and John Lennon drove an Austin Maxi until he went to the US and then bought a 9 year old Alfa 2600 Sprint. These guys were of course seriously minted.
Nothing to do with money at all, in other words.

Point taken, but I was on about 'normal' business peopleAndyboy wrote:Not really. The founder of NCP carparks drove a Mark 2 Cavalier for years. Yes indeed mega-wealthy people have no point to prove or show but 'normal' sucessful business people usually drive a vehicle that represents a level of success of their business. And I don't mean in a new money "I'm considerably richer than you" or the 'Golf Club car park war' way but for the reason of projected business image. If you have your own business and you turn up for a meeting in a sh1tter of a car, then you will be judged likewise whether it matters or not.
I can't talk, I own an E30 shed and a daily shi1tter

Nah, it tends to be property developers and other get-rich-quick merchants who drive the flash and ascribe to all that 'projecting success' guff. The real serious dudes wouldn't waste cash on a depreciating asset like a luxury car. The three most serious businessmen I know drive an e34 518 touring with bits hanging off it (but full bilstein shocks, poly-bushed etc, i.e. no flash but perfect underneath), an mid-nineties s-class Merc of some kind and a very tatty old Ford respectively. I think they think if they drive anything too flash or new people will be thinking 'I'm bound to be able to get a better deal off someone who doesn't have a taste for expensive cars'....;)
or he drives a very tatty old Ford, I'll go somewhere more sucessful!!snakebrain wrote:Nah, it tends to be property developers and other get-rich-quick merchants who drive the flash and ascribe to all that 'projecting success' guff. You will always find someone who wants to get something for as cheap as possible and you will always get someone who pays top dollar because they believe it's a better product. Always.
I agree though there is always an element of 'look at me' if you get it wrong
Well that's nonsense.Gortour wrote:
As Bonkers himself has said to me... "I have been a member of the RSOC club for many years and i have never come across such a slagging of this magnitude"
I was on RSOC back in 99ish to 03 and there was always some kicking off on that site. I will remember the Top Speed Cossie thread where certain people claimed that you couldn't claim the top speed run record if you had removed the spoiler. It got ridiculously petty. If that place hadn't gone the way it is, it wouldn't have been closed for a few months and PassionFord would never have become as popular as it had.
E30zone has some way to go before it reaches "classic RSOC BB" levels
X Works car. In fact I reckon X Works car wil lbe better built that either of the SportEvos. BMW M probably didn't spend anywhere neat the level of detail our Irish friend has!ben9040 wrote:so which do you prefer? xworks m3 (when finished) fully restored with blood sweat and tears effectively a brand new vehicle, or one of these unused timewarp vehicles? Im sure xworks will have much more satisfaction getting behind the wheel of his but the thought of a brand new e30 m3 from back in the day is also an appealing one. I would give my right arm for either!

Lets not lose sight of reality here, this is only the internet at the end of the day. It is a few lines of nerdy code, I mean come on, controlling people, it's not like we are performing mind control or hypnotism here.
I haven't managed to read any of this thread from about page 9 or 10 or whenever the pics of them on the transporters were but I dare not read the rest, by the look of the way some people are portraying things you would think you guys had found an E30zone shaped turd in your cornflakes this morning.
Chill out.
