Hi to all

Fitted m52 to E30. Temp gauge on dash does not work, no flickering of any kind,just moves very slightly and nothing more. I've checked a few things so far.

Pin 4 (e30) is connected to pin 12 (e36)
Pin 4 touched to earth and gauge goes to max

The m52 still has original duel temp sensor. Following the E36 wiring diagram pin 11 goes to earth in side the instrument cluster.
Pin 11 is not connected to anything at the at the moment, can I connect it to earth?
Pin 11 and 12 both show 5.1volts ish when measured to earth.

Should i fit a different temp sensor? The m50 engine i took out has the dual temp sensor and a single wire sensor right next to it. the m52 has a space for this single sensor, but i'm unsure what to do.

I've tried to cover everything, any help would be great as i'm driving with no gauge and dont wont to cook it.

Thanks :-}

This is your problem, you need to fit an E30 temp sender alongside the M52
