t-cut on bumpers?

my bumpers are looking real faded is it okay to t-cut them? unsure cause its plastic....

autoglym bumper goo is the stuff to use on bare plastic (others will have a favorite product but this is cheap, easy and last well)

on painted bumpers, cut and polish in exactly the same was as the rest of the body.

if you use t-cut, don't forget to wax it properly afterwards

nah there painted, a heat gun? wont that just melt the plastic

are you talking about the painted bit on the upper and lower sections of the bumper or the black trim

if its the black trim then use any sort of vinyl or rubber care product. the autoglym bumper gel works well, but once you apply it wipe it down with a dam rag to have clean smear free finish

the heat gun trick works well on faded black plastics, namely the arches on corsas and golfs. never tried it on BMW bumper trims. if you do over do it, it will damage them

Yes it will melt them, only if you over do it though. I use this method all the time, as Kos says it works brilliantly on the likes of Corsas, Golfs etc.

yeah there both colour coded bumpers, but its got a little black plastic trim through it as well,

can i use the heat gun for the headlight grills as well?

That can only be used a number of times.

I would clean with an apc (and a decent brush) followed with a trim sealant.

Dodo, gtechniqe and Spautpia(?) all sell trim sealants.

If i'm honest I've never tried the heat gun method on BMW trim. Come to think of it, one thing the Vauxhall and VW plastics have in common are that they are soft plastics, BMW seems to be more rigid, all you can do is clean and dress, I have been using black wow for months now with good results, can't say I have tried the ones Bluto mentions but i'm sure they are very good and should be very durable being trim sedalants.

the pre facelift BMW's with metal bumpers and rubber trims could respond well to the heat gun treatment
