We have a new puppy and it missed the towel I had laid down and managed to throw up all over my cloth seats
- I have cleaned the upholstery but the smell is still quite strong, any tips on getting rid of the vomity pong?

Aye, Febreezed to within an inch of its life, I have the windows open whilst the weather is nice. Perhaps I haven't cleaned the seats well enough? Any amazing upholstery cleaning recommendations?
I guess I will just have to live with it for a few days in the hopes it fades.
[edit to add] or maybe now is the time to get the lovely black wipe clean leather interior I have been hankering for?!

there are quite few products out there that claim to do a job
pop on to www.detailingworld.co.uk and have search, i dont think you have to register to search posts, but with a lot of profesional car detailers on the site you will be bound to find some usefull information

Pick up all the chunks, you then need to get a biological upholstery cleaner on it. Autosmart Biobrisk or the product I use is Valet Pro Enzyme odour eater, as well as cleaning the actual mess and stain up the biological action physically destroys the bacteria that causes or will cause nasty odurs, my advice is to spray the product on agitate with a nail/upholstery brush and then extract with a wet vac, it's also worth using fresh warm water in the wet vac to rinse away any detergent. Funny, I had two interior jobs on last week and I got another two this week, one puke the rest mould.
Le Mans Classic 2006Here is a link to the valet pro product, not sure if you could get a smaller bottle from elsewhere.

I think you should apologise to Tyra for that outburst, immediately. Totally uncalled for.StuBeeDoo wrote:

I'd recommend a steam cleaner. Something along the lines of one of these.

Thank you all for the suggestions! I had a look at detailingworld and followed some of the advice there, along the same lines as the advice since given here.
The biggest problem was that the vomit went down and into the passenger seat side trim where you lift the seat up - I took off the trim and gave it a good scrub with a toothbrush and had to use a kebab stick to poke out any remaining chunks- it was a real mess.
I used some biological washing powder in the hopes it will have the same effect as the enzyme products on the market - the smell has nearly gone now but it may be worth me picking up a bottle of Enzyme Odour Eater just in case.

As well as bicarb, vinegar works very well to remove odours as it's a natural antiseptic. It can go in a spray bottle and applied liberally. You will be fancying chips every time you use the car for a while but after that the puke smell should go.

Had my neice throw up on the back seat of a previous car,and happened to be working for a car dealer at the time.Cleaned it relentlessly for 3 days.Got in to work on the Monday and decided to ask the valeting guys the best way to remove the smell.
Their solution:Bin the back seat and get a new one.I resisted the urge to spend £600 on a new back seat and lived with the smell 'til the car was eventually written off 18 months later. The smell during the summer was awful, even with the windows down.
Trust me,animal or human, makes no difference. You need a new seat,or at least one thats not got puppy puke on it.And ,just for the record,I'm an animal lover but they don't get in the cars unless they're in a travel box.
