The saloon wouldn't usually be my first choice, but with two children they make a lot of sense, plus it gives it a bit more q-car apeal, and from certain angles I think the proportions work better than the coupes. Plus I know the last two owners very well which is a definite advantage over a lot of cheap e36s with questionable history.
My friend was after a cheap runabout for his girlfriend who he couldn't get insured on the m3 or his mk1 g60, so we agreed to swap for a week. After a day neither wanted to swap back
I now need a ride in an s50d e30, only now can I appreciate how silly they must be

i'm slowly warming to the looks, at first i thought it a bit grandad, and wondered what i was doing, but i've decided that whilst it's not pretty, it is quite handsome and well proportioned, not exciting but its just works as a good basic shape.
i was also quite suprised to read that they only made 400 rhd saloons, which makes it considerably more rare than my 'normal' run of the mill e30 m3
cheers,

i've had time to have a bit of a play,
yellow film has been removed from the foglights, front indicators have had a very light tint to they match better with the front lights, i've put a chin spoiler back on as it had lost it at somepoint, and as the standard wheels badly needed a refurb i've stuck the m5 turbines on and given the covers a lick of paint.
german correctness

jimmy hill (yes, the stone chip / scrapes need sorting with a better colourmatch paint too! )

yes it does, they needed a slight pull, and that side has some rot so it looks a little rough at the moment. the pannels are cheap so i'll bung a new arch on if i get a spare weekend. at the moment i'm not all that bothered

Yep, the grubby red one
it's been local ever since it was imported, original uk owner was from thurston, then went to the son of a car dealer in Norwich, then on to someone else in norwich who moved to wymondham, to me who lives in wymondham but the other half live just outside bury steds.

It looked awesome!
I hope you treat it to some proper roads every now and again, East Anglia doesn't offer much!
