I've read the Wiki and the various threads on HID's but was wondering if i were to buy 2 sets of the eBay HID kits, could i hook one set upto my dipped beams as per usual and one set to my full beams? Or are the connections etc different? Just like the idea of having all my lights the same colour instead of one set HID and the full beams as normal.

Snag with this is that you tend to switch your mainbeam headlights on and off fequently.
HiD's do not like this, they flicker and take a second or two to come up to full power.
I use 100w bulbs in the main beam, you could get one's with a colour tint....I also re-wired with heavier cable from the fusebox to the lights, following Mr Moore's advice on this subject.

Cars that have HID main beams use a mechanical shutter to control the beam pattern.

You need the H1 option, and 50W will be damn bright. 35W are the standard ones and work very well indeed.

I have just fitted HID's to the main beams on mine. They seem to work ok,they do take a little while to brighthen back up after been switched off for a little while, but don't seem too bad after just meeting one or two cars.I know that they are not really meant to be switched on and off alot but a good few people have them fitted to the main beams and I don't think any really had any problems yet.

The right hand main beam in this pic is just the normal bulb.Don't think it would really look that great without the HID's in them. Can't decide what to do with the fog lights yet.

Cheers Morat, i ordered them lastnight but might have ordered the 55W! Oh well... if they're too bright i'll oder the others. Cheers for the reply tho dude.
alync205, did the full beams just plug straight in aswell? If i get on with the HID's for dipped beam, i may well order a set for full beam aswell for a bit of symetricality. (if that's even a word!)
Cheers guys

Yes fitting the main beams are the same job as the dipped beam. The wires on the main beams are on the back of the cover so you have to drill the hole for the grommet in the bottom of the cover. You will see what I mean when you look at it.
