Just retro-fitting OBC - what does the external OBC horn do (yeah, I know, it goes beep!!) - the warning gong tells you low fuel, exceeding pre-set speed, Ice outside etc, but I can't figure out what the external horn does - is it part of the BMW alarm system?

The horn bolts to the underneath of the flat plate behind the headlights, with lots of holes in it, and the extra loom from n/s has connectors for the OBC horn and the outside temperature sensor located in the top of the n/s brake vent pipe. This loom goes through a grommet next to the main loom in to the n/s bulkhead.

Datourer - sorry, I think I'm wrong about gong going off when fuel is low.
318iS - the blue connector you have spare is the OBC horn wiring. The only other 'spare' socket at the front end will be the round, black connector to wire in headlight wash/wipe system.

the blue plug is exactly the same as the ones for the pre wired set up for the fog lights if it is just behind the headlight then it could be one of them

Just looked at this thread to see why a simple question gete nearly 30 replies!
And still no ones answered the original question - The horn is for the CODE immobilizer function of the OBC.
The black plug by the servo is not used, and should be fitted with a plastic blanking piece. Maybe it's an alternative connector for the horn as on A1BMW325isport's car.

sorry for the confusion ...i thought you had the blue plug behind your head light(photo) on the nearside in the same location on my car this is where the foglight plugs are if you dont have them fitted, they are not connected to the obc but the blue plug in the picture is exactly the same as the foglight plug found in this location

If so are we talking about the little single blue socket that goes to the indicator switch?

Getting lost now. Is this part of the OBC loom?
IIRC, the only connectors on the OBC loom anywhere near the left(?) lamp cluster are the ones for the CODE alarm horn and the outside temperature sender.
What colour are the wires?

basically iv got two spare plugs once wired up in my engine bay, both got the same connecters at the end, one is black and runs out of loom by the bulkhead, the other, the blue one photoed a second ago runs out by the light cluster
IIRC its for the temp sender? no idea in hell were it plugs in
sorry to be so fucking stupid!
