Sump question.

Can you remove, or at least seperate, the sump from an M20 with the engine fitted to the car? I want to fit a crank scraper but I'm not going to pull the lump just to do it.

Got a feeling you have to lift the engine as the cross member makes it difficult.

Either raise the engine considerably, or undo the sump, drop it as far as you can, then reach in and unscrew the oil pump.
