45mm or 51mm?????
i have a 1990 318i m40
can i measure in situ or does it need to be striped? and where is the measurement taken from?

is it the outer strut diameter then i presume??
99% chance it will be 45mm as the 51mm was fitted to 325i's, 318is, tourers + cabs, if you are replacing suspension, it is worth uprating to 51mm, buy some second hand front struts from a 4 cylinder car as the spring rate is different and new inserts, budget to suit.
