E30 handling in the wet.

150mph = 241km/h. So far I haven't found a single sedan type car with 200hp that can do 150mph. The Ford Mondeo ST220 (reasonably slippery sedan?) gets there with 220hp. The new 325i with a very good 0.30 drag gets there with about 215hp.

closest i can think of is the calibra turbo
but thats a coupe - albeit a full 4/5 seater tho based on a cavalier floorpan

Oh yes, 150mpg=242 km/h, I got it slightly wrong.
Calibra Turbo had a notoriously low Cd in its day, I'd expect the E30 to be a bit worse than one of those. Howeber, Cav turbo had a lot of drivetrain losses due to being 4wd.

I wish I had a car that could do 242km/h and get 150mpg . Not poking fun either, I really wish I did.

I forgot about the Calibra Turbo. It has a drag coefficient of 0.29 according to http://www.carfolio.com which is very good even today.

That website also lists a Sentra Coupe which has the same drag coefficient as the Calibra Turbo. I didn't realise there was a coupe so if that is what we were talking about and it does have that cd then I can believe it got to 250km/h.

Just on the subject of tyres, I've tried Bridgestone Potenza S-03 PPs & RE 720s, and neither of them will budge in the rain on my 318is!.

Both are really grippy in the dry too, but the RE720s are on 10,000 miles plus with plenty left, while the Pole Positions seemed to wear out in 8,000!?! Super sticky=super wear

Just some more P6000-bashing:

Had them too, seemed "okay" (but nothing special) at first, but once they weared down to say 70% they were becoming increasingly dangerous in the wet. Not much grip and completely unpredictable if you ask me.

When I (completely unexpected) spun my car in the wet at the Ring (and bent the brand new rear bumper in the process) I decided I had enough of this and went for RE720s... these are lightyears ahead, great tires for the price!

e30s r irresponsible in the wet. iv driven my 325 2wice in the wet only and i really dont no how the designers back then at bmw cud sleep at nite.

You mean because they would have been out in the rain in their E30s?

EDIT: Forgot to mention car looks good ^, not my choice of colour but that's just my opinion. It is standard looking like you said which will surprise a few people and no rice type stuff. I imagine it would be a bit of a handful without an LSD, the Quaife will be good. No 19" wheels though! Lightweight 17s or 18s would be much better for handling and ride, unless it is a track only car?
