hi one and all, i have been offered a complete but rotten e28 m535i which runs very well, can i make this fit my beloved tourer? i have been searching for an ideal e34 manual but not been to lucky in finding one. I have only heard of people fitting the b35 engine and not the b34 is it worth doing or should i hold out in my search for the b35?

It will fit, But you will need a few e34 bit's to complete. Also unless you blank the water way's at the back of the head and convert to the e34 cooling system, You will have to sit the engine in position 2 at best.
It would be better all round to wait for a e34 doner car complete.

Thank you, it is a real shame as the m535 has covered less than 90'000 miles, and is one of the quietest old school bmw's i have ever heard, but if its not going to go in with out major work i will continue my search for a e34. thank you once again.

iirc the earlier engines have more power due to the higher compression, 220bhp instead of 211bhp

e28 engines and e34 engine use different engine mount locations on the block, and a water outlet at the back is about an 1" deep and easly blocked off.
and how much is cheap as a e28 dogleg box goes upto £750 these days

i picked up the car today, i may even reshell the beast an e28 is not really my thing but its still a cool retro ride for the summer, and i'll continue my hunt for a good e34 as a base for the tourer. i was a bit naughty a took the m535 for a spin round the block it pulled like a train, not quite used to that dog leg box though.

i am based in london, thank you for the kind offer though. i aslo have an e30 track car i may even use the running gear for that as i can be a little less fussy with putting it in.
