Hi (new to the forum),
I want to buy an E30 318i Touring to use on the track (got one in mind). How do I go about sourcing a 2.8 engine for it from the 328 E36.....
Also any recomendations on where to get it done?

Best bet is to source a complete E36 328i, depending on spec you may get a few quid back for interior and body panels etc.
You can use your touring gearbox, but you'll need a prop & diff from an E30 325i.
Sump, dipstick tube & oil pickup pipe from E34 525i
E28 M5 rubber engine mounts
electric fan
E30 320i gearstick selector rod & cradle
use the rad from the 328i
engine loom + all the EWS stuff & ignition key needed from 328i donor
flywheel, starter motor & clutch from E30 325i
E30 325i exhaust system
Modify the exhaust manifold on the 2.8 engine
use the E36 steering rack too
That lot will get you on your way
