I was going to get my struts powder coated but decided to try the hamerite smooth satin black, i was very pleased with the results.stonesie wrote:Hammerite hammered black dries a kinda anthracite colour, I used it on my engine mounts and a couple of other bits.

That was with 3 coats, should have stopped at 2 as they were a little more satin looking. Still for the price cant grumble.

I have been cleaning the M50 block today and gave it lick of paint. Looks gray in the pics cos of the light Dan but its black in person. The can is in the second pic mate

I was dead chuffed with the finish mate real quality looking and p!ss to apply. Oem+ as they say

Your powder coater looks the business, good ones are hard to find. Got any details on the adjustable kit?

They're supposed to fill threads and holes etc with a special wax. Otherwise you have to ream it / brush it out.e30topless wrote:how can i stop Powder coating from getting in the threads where the shocks go in ?

Ok so its only took me 3 months but thanks to Dezzy donating his last can of Simoniz the inlet is now painted
In the end I bought a new blasting gun as a new nozzle for the old one cost nearly twice as much

Painted

And polished lettering

It looks slightly glossy in the pics but it still hasnt dried properly, apparently if you bake it at 200° for 90 minutes it will withstand solvents/oils and temps up to 300°C
My airing cupboard doesnt get quite that hot but I imagine it will be dry enough after a few days
