ive heard these are quite highly rated, is this the correct OEM size for BBS 15's and is that a fair price for 2?

Used to be one of the best prices places for "good" tyres, but i priced up some 215 40 17's yokohama prada's on there last week and they could not come close to the company i use now

http://www.ears.co.uk/

they trade on ebay, and there cheaper than camskill

great tyre for grip, but because of the soft compound it does tend to wear out faster!!

T1R's rule! great, great road tyre nothing touches them for the money imo, softer sidewall than most which helps with ride comfort on the slammed cars!

i have a mix match of crappy tyres on mine which i got on the BBS. came to my car today and saw a very noticabley shiny screw in the rear tyre. luckily enough, it was the one which needed replacing anyway! so a set of T1R's look to be in order from hearing of such good performance!

they aren't total sh!te on track but like any road tyre they go off quickly. Half maybe 2/3's of a lap of the ring and they are gone. Once they go off they go like jelly! I've had them so hot on track the whole treat blocks and have moved over! and they've been peeling like slicks!

I know of more than half a dozen local cars running 4 x T1R's.

Shite on track? Compared to what guys? When I was at the ring nearly all the 'normal' cars were running T1r's. . .

they are a road a tyre. Not a track tyre it gets frustrating when your driving the ring on the limit of the tyres the whole way round when you know you and the car can go quicker. R888's are the next step up, at least with these you can keep lapping instead of having to pull off each lap to let the boots cool down.

Road tyres end up so hot it feels like your driving a double bed round there

Goodyear eagle F1's are better, they don't go off as quick and when they do, they don't totally fall apart like a T1R can

I would suggest you 2.7 pina touring would put quite a bit of heat into the tyres! My 205/55 15's were ok, but the left rear was pushed over the edge by the heat from the exhaust silencer next to it I beleive. :D

888's hmmm, soon to be banned though.

F1's have replaced the tread pattern with an asimetric one. It's crap on mileage (our customers have complained) no idea what they are like on track.

There are new tyre laws coming in to force soon, track day tyres are dead in the water, here's what a quick search threw up

PYF my old 325i touring which never managed more than 155 bhp used to be too much for them! i do still love a toyo proxie though

i used to use 205/50/15's with the car on the deck

Seems you won't be able to buy them under the new rules, although I don't think it'll be toooo much of a killer for 'track day tyres' - they can just mark them 'NOT FOR ROAD USE' as manufacturers already do with slicks and other 'track only' tyres. But this legislation will be a pain in the pisser for ordinary road tyres it would seem, as tyres supplied for road use will have to be made to a new standard for low rolling resistance and other associated c0ck, and hence cost more. Total bloody waste of time, seems my hopes that the green lobby were finally being shown the exit door were premature.

Continental sportcontact 2's and 3's are an awesome road tyre and cope fairly well on track for a road tyre.

I've noticed a lot of folk using Marangoni Zeta Linea road tyres for track days and hillclimbs. I did notice these are quite a hard compound. Perhaps they deal pretty well with higher operating temperatures compared to a lot of road tyres.
