Ok...

I have brought the following... Fli 450s Loaded Amp, wired it in... Power cable with the fuse thing in the engine bay, comes through the car and into the boot, plugs into the amp...

The ground is to bare metal...

The remote turn on seems to turn my headset off when its plugged it, and also, its just a wire, no connector on the end. Looks like it should be a 3.5mm jack plug in on the remote part of the head unit...

Its an old head sony head unit too... but has the plug ins etc etc

Then there is the audio line going from the head unit to the amp fine...

Speakers are 240w Vibe Black 5 or something like that, sitting in the footwells...

Now...

I have no sound and the amp isn't seeming to power up at all, I have tried new fuses in both the engine bay part and on the amp itself...

Everything, to my knowledge is wired in how its suppose to... Just no power. :(

Has it got something to do with the remote turn on?

Can anyone help??!? I have no music in my car and its not nice

Obvious one first - I take it you have checked the fuse going to the amp and if that is ok put a voltmeter on the fuse terminals to make sure you are getting power?

My Multimeter has stopped working... I only brought it about a week ago. Stupid piece of shi...

Is there another way of testing it, other than plugging my tongue on it? lol

Ok, I figured out what was wrong... The remote wire wasn't linking with the headunit, so I joined it at the amp itself and just bridge rem to 12v and it all lit up and started to work... There was some sort of sound but atleast there is power... I'm gonna get a inline switch tomorrow and run that indepenantly from the battery to the amp for power insread of via the headunit...

Rather than taking the blue wire to the headunit you could use the on signal for the electric aerial already in the boot (if you have electric aerial?)

I would recomend using a remote on signal though and not wiring to a switch as an amp will drain your battery pretty quick the day your forget to turn it off.

Hmmmmm.... I have an aerial base in the boot but no aerail.... Works on the same basis though, where abouts do I connect it up? It makes sense to do that as I wouldn't fancy forgetting about it and being stuck in the middle of no where one day (I go climbing, so out in the sticks sometimes)

By aerial base, I mean I have an electric aerial, I just dont have the bit that sits on the outside of the bodywork as its missing...

Jim the remote wire you are connecting to is it a light blue or dark blue, sony have two blue wires light blue is normaly telephone mute and the dark blue is amp remote, if it still dont work, connect the remote wire to the red wire on the head unit then the amp will come on with the ignition.

Try what Kam is saying first,

I recently fitted an amp in my boot and was tempted to use the electric aerial signal but decided to wire it to the headunit in the end as i'm sure you're aware the tiny blue wire isn't a problem getting to the front of the car, its the RCA's and chunky positive to the battery that is the PITA!

What you might find though is that the head unit's blue wire is already being used to control the electric aerial and so you would have to splice onto that wire anyway so why not do it in the boot? The wire is not blue in the boot though just to complicate things. Its red/green striped or something, try unplugging the cables to the aerial one at a time. With the aerial up (headunit on) if you unplug the live nothing should happen, if you unplug the signal wire the aerial will go down

Ok, I have had a look at the head unit... It has one blue/white cable free from the wiring loom. I tried the remote turn on, on that one and nothing happens... I have had the system working now as I bridged it this morning and made sure I was getting sound...

There isn't any other free cables of the loom and the 'remote plug in' bit is a 3.5mm jack point and that isn't what I have...

I thouhght prehaps I could wire a phone jack onto the end, but they have 2 cables in them as apoosed to one, so not sure if it would work...

Which wire am i cutting into to get it wired in then? And do I just cut it open and have it like a 3 way...?

Sounds like the blue wire from the headunit is already wired to the electric aerial. You said your aerial is broken but does the motor make a nose when you turn the headunit on?

You dont need any fancy connectors on the end of the wire by the way, just a small connector block. If it were me i'd use the cable already in the boot. Its pissing with rain here otherwise i'd go and check what colour it is on mine but you should be able to tell

the remote lead you mention is for a remote control joystick (3.5mm jack). most old sony's had them so this wouldnt work. if you really cant find the blue wire intended for the job the take kam's advise and wire it into the ignition live (red wire)
