The lip was body color from the factory. Over the years the flat black job became common so that it followed the black rockers and rear valance. Body color is the only way, IMO.

Thanks for the pics. I inherited my father's resto project 318is with a mildly massaged M42 and am looking for ideas. Already have EU market bumper moldings (no lenses), EU grilles, rear license panel and analog clock. Need to find some 15" BBS's and a non-A/C front valance eventually.
