My1989 325 motorsport cab is riding a fraction too low and too firmly for my liking. On investigation it has been fitted at some time with Spax springs, purple in colour. The fronts have a part no 53004.I was thinking of replacing them with either 40/40 Eibachs or original motorsport springs if I can find a set. What do you think? [Curiously the rear shocks, which were fitted at some expense, are marked"Gas Ryder VST " black in colour, made in USA,part no's C00215A0814/737672] :wtf:

Spax springs are toilet, it's a well known fact. I had a set on a 325i and they gave a truly awful ride. I'd go for a set of standard BMW springs, I don't think cabriolets ride excessively high.

I searched for 'Gabriel' and only two posts popped up, so I'm jumping on this old one.

Similar to the opening poster, I changed out my rear shocks recently (for Bilstein B4's) and after searching the part number for the old set found that they were Gabriel brand. I'd never heard of Gabriel before (although Google tells me they invented the shock absorber, so maybe I should have). Anyone heard of them? Are they any good? One of the shocks seems to jam part-way down, which maybe isn't an indicator of great quality?
