Bonnet vents?????

Been mulling over the idea of cutting a bonnet vent in over the area where my cone filter is............... what do ya think??

They are £30+postage for a pair
Is there any advantage to the idea?

Looks like a 3dr sierra cosworth vent. Most bonnet vents are from turbo applications and are for getting hot air out rather than cold air in. You're probably better running a cold air pipe from the front of your car to the cone? I've taken the head light out before on track days as well to help?

Errado Andye, they are off a cossie. I was going to put the vent upside down so the air scooped in rather than out. I just can't be bothered to faff with the headlight so I thought this may be an alternative.

Air doesn't really scoop in the way you are thinking, unless you have a massive thing stuck out in the air stream. Which ever way round you mount it the low pressure air over the bonnet will cause the higher pressure air under it to come out that way. Does that make sense?

Yes it does. Another way to put it is that air always flows from high to low pressure, regardless of which way around you mount the vent.

I was under the impression that bonnet vents also reduce front lift (if large enough) by letting trapped air out of the engine bay?
