can opening rear windows be fitted to a coupe that has non opening rear windows?

are major bodywork mods needed?

Yes - apparently if you peel back the trim inside the mounting points are already there.

yes I can confirm this as I have done it myself there's a really good guide for this on E30 zone wiki

are the openers renowed for not sealing though? i know my mates capri has openers, and were always leaking (i know it was a capri not an e30!!!!)

Mine have never leaked, they have 2 sets of seals one that goes around the window hole and one that goes on the window frame, once closed they pull quite tightly agaist the rubber seal
