laserline alarm help!!

hi all,

when i bought my car, i noticed that the genius that installed the alarm cocked up the hole for the immobilizer key thing in the dash. the blank plate doesnt click into place and sticks out because the bottom of the immobilizer thing is too low...



there are obviously wires coming from the back of this unit...



i have bought a new blank plate to sort it out so my question is.... how can i disconnect the unit to feed it through the new blank plate? i do not want to cause problems with the alarm as i am not an alarm expert and dont want to end up with an immobilized car (if this is possible)

follow that wire down and it should be on a plug simply unplug and drill the new hole and refit

should be how else did they get the wire in, in the first place????

while your unpluggint it why not movee it to the steering shroud? or above knee panel, then you wont have to see it in the main dash area

thats the main led for the alarm to tell you if it is on or not.

daz.... i wanna keep the led on show, so left it where it is. also, there would be 2 "blanks" where the dash switches are. at least an LED is something! if it was a clifford one, i might be tempted to move it so i didn't get blinded everytime it flashed....

kam - was worried that disconnecting it would cause problems with the alarm, but all is well. there were connecters about 20cm behind the LED, so easy job. ta!

No probs dude. glad you sorted it. Fitted loads of laserlines in the past so i knew there would be a connecter in there.
