I have the chance of buying a 2002 touring in running condition but needs work.Havent seen it in the flesh but the price i can get it for i think its worth the risk.
I know nothing about them, but i'm after a classic and i like the look of it.
Can anyone convert me to buying it and have any knowledge of them and what sort of value do they hold.
Thanks
ANdy

One of my favourite cars ever.
Buy it. Stick an iS M42 or even an s14 in it and enjoy!
This is a good website: http://www.m2bmw.com/complete_spec.htm

This was mine:

It was an absolutely cracking car. They are fantastic to drive; responsive steering, reasonably powerful and tuneable M10 engine and also look
, especially in larey colours such as orange (and not 70s beige like mine
).
The engines are absolutely bombproof on them and there is good parts availability even from the dealers (parts can be expensive though...). Have a look at www.jaymic.co.uk and www.wallothnesch.com for an idea of prices. Certain touring parts can also be hard/expensive to source as the touring was never that popular when produced and is rare now.
As an E30 owner you'll already know that rust is the enemy, and it has killed many of these. But I would definitely recommend an '02.
If you have any questions etc PM me: my brother knows pretty much everything about these!

My brother wheels and deals in '02 bits and has quite a stockpile of parts. Means when the tax is due. Tourings were only made in '73 & '74 but as I don't live in England I don't know if the DVLA still puts date of liability if its tax exempt.

I think you have to renew it for free every year.dickster wrote:Means when the tax is due. Tourings were only made in '73 & '74 but as I don't live in England I don't know if the DVLA still puts date of liability if its tax exempt.

As far as I know, yes. Changing the engine has no effect on the age of the vehicle.

cool - am looking into sticking a rotary in one
they reason they sound proper lumpy is becasue they have had new ports cut boasts power alot!!
in e30's
tacky car but for the weight power would be sick in an 02
nicer one but with a rarer 20b engine 300 stock n/a
chav special but you get the idea
