Its now time for my next upgrade, since having a slipper on 4 turns lock to lock aint fun at all, so what racks are you running and what clearance issues have you had with the manifold?
Would a steering linkage off danthe help?
Which would be the best rack to use for ease of fitment?
Any pics would be cracking. :D

I've got one of danthe's linkages Lee but no m30 yet :(

Have you chosen a rack yet?

I've go the E46 330clubsport rack on mine which is 3 turns lock to lock and easier to get than the Z3 rack. Clearance wise I had to chop and reweld the manifold from cyl1-3.

I don't think one of Dan's steering linkages would help me as the E46 rack uses the same splines as the E30 item, I do however have one of the solid steering guilbo's to give a bit extra clearance.

If you want tomorrow I can go and try to take some photo's?

Just a thought, can the internals be removed from an e36 rack and built into an e30 rack?

would save faffing with the manifold.

i very much doubt it, the pinion sits at a different angle on the rack itself so they wouldn't mesh properly

I managed to get a ton well about 5cm between the shaft and the manifold yesterday with just 1 chop rotate and weld. I'm hoping it will be ok for a E36/46 rack when I get one but its fixed the tapping on the brake reaction bush that I had.

More importantly, does an E36/E46 rack have as much lock an E30 one? E30 has pretty good lock from the word go, my E36 M3 rack.. Does not.
