more snaps of the sport in the operating theatre (cosmetic surgery. well she is getting on in years
), as some disappeared last time:
re-working of an old repair (being done properly this time!):

no, it's not all filler, it's just smoothing out the edges of the new wheel arches:

including repair to the rusty aerial hole:

masked up ready for primer:

primer on:

on goes the Dolphin Grey!

thanks again Painterman

in fact it's probably a lot easier to wipe clean black leather than light grey cloth!

Damn that looks nice.
Can't wait to see finished pics.
BTW I know how you feel about the dog, I had my german shepherd in the car today, and he has made right mess in the back of my car.
I always forget to put some kind of cover on the seat.

well, i couldn't ignore the old girl any longer. i'd lost a bit of heart in her tbh, running like a bag of %^&*! (only a temporary loss of interest you understand, while i have been busy.)
so today, after having obtained another ECU, plugged it in, fitted the touring battery in her and turned the key....
fired up on the button, so off i went.
just a quick blast to the end of the road (my insurance is transferred to the touring atm) and, dare i say it, all seemed well

oh joy!
i had completely forgotten what a lovely machine she is. fast, sounds great and has power steering! (the touring p.a.s. has a leak so is practically non-existant
)
i even got the bucket and sponge out earlier and so we washed and made up
enthusiasm rekindled

adi came to see me today sorted out a fuel leak then thought lets start getting the old girl finished whats this carpet is wet no so adi cut the carpet out then found tin worm gutted he will post pics but still she is fight ing all the way

despite the delaying tactics employed mercilessly by Mr.T. (i.e. a full english breakfast...mushrooms, egg, bacon, toast, beans, orange juice, coffee, etc. etc.) i had to have a good look at the Sport....and this is what we found:
passenger footwell repaired (as above). all nice and dry. i scraped a bit more of the sound-deadening back, so i shall repaint this area with the special paint donated by gaszman:

and so to the other side. no surprise really
:

i may have a(nother) little job for you Painterman
(well if it's worth doing, it's worth doing properly).
ahh, don't they look nice together:

cheers chris.
i'm dying to do all the nice jobs, like cleaning, feeding and refurbing the leather seats, door cards, fitting the new carpet, a rear blind parcel shelf, nice stereo, leather gaitors, new fogs, skirts, "new" x-spokes, etc., etc. then doing the underside, then giving her a damn good polish and wax....but no point until the last of the welding and bodywork has been done.
tick, tock, tick, tock

The whole resto looks great! I love how great the paint came out!
If you don't mind me asking, how much does a Sport 325 in that shape set people back on your side of the world? Over here, even a run down M325i can still be quite costly!
Also, how come so many cars suffer from rust so badly over there? I live in an area where it sure as hell rains a lot, but I don't see it nearly as bad on my cars!

.... and a lot of housing over here dates from the Victorian times / early to mid 20th century with no allowance for garaging cars, so they get stuck, unprotected, on the street.Alex wrote:in the winter the goverment like to spread salt on most roads nearly every dayQuickSilver wrote:The whole resto looks great! ooh, they're sooo much more desireable than Tech2s
especially in Dolphin grey and with air con and no sunroof
when it's all done, i wouldn't be interested in selling it for less than £4.5-5K tbh. i'm not sure if that's unreasonable but to me it'll be worth that amount.
i don't think it can all be blamed on the road salt as salt doesn't get in the scuttle area and between the inner and outer rear quarters, does it?
