ok iv searched the forum for this but nothing as far a i can see,
in the dark i cannot see the OBC at all, iv replaced the bulb with a brighter 3watt one but still nothing
the LED's light up but the screen doesn't?

Sounds like a blown backlight unit or I suppose possibly a faulty display!
Which bulb did you replace?
Was it possibly only the keyboard bulb which you replaced?
The backlight bulb is soldered into the backlight unit which slides out of the RHS of the OBC unit.
